[Challenge Only] Improvement of grinding operations

Monitor and improve the efficiency of production processes.

Challenge:

A manufacturing company in the metal industry deals with the production of stainless steel equipment and tanks. It has 4 machines including one machine to deploy.
The challenge is to reduce the financial outlays related to production costs and increase the efficiency of the process. Due to the increase in demand for ground products, the company is forced to automate the grinding process in order to speed up order fulfillment. For this purpose, it will be necessary to design and manufacture a grinding device.
The company wants to link production with industry 4.0 technology, thanks to the use of modern technologies, such as: touch screen, Internet connection, 3D visualization capabilities. The device that will be designed will be equipped with advanced sensors that will be used, among others, to: determine the position of the grinder, calculate the rotational speed, as well as continuously test the obtained roughness. The built-in software will automate the machine by allowing the operator to write programs to improve the grinding process as much as possible. Making a smart device will allow the factory to develop and observe how automation of a given process affects higher productivity and better quality, and what benefits it has for the company.
