While discussing the latest extensions of their IoT-Platform Zerynth and OHS Engineering agreed on starting joint activities addressing the very specific needs of SMEs with respect to the introduction of Industry 4.0 technologies. In this context the better usage of renewable energy sources was Identified as an important and relevant aspect towards future production systems.
In contrast to centralized energy supply renewable energy sources come along with a decentralization which causes new challenges – e.g. to adjust production plans to the availability of solar power. This requires the availability as well as the continuous consolidation and analysis of data from different sources. A better understanding regarding the possibilities and limitations of Industry 4.0 technologies is an important aspect towards their acceptance by SMEs. In this context the results of the Planet4 project are considered as valuable input to raise trust and interest of SMEs in introducing such technologies.
