SOLUTION FOR ROAD SAFETY IN SENSORIZED ROUNDABOUTS

How to improve road safety in sensorized roundabouts with serverless architectures and BI technologies? “At Elecnor’s Systems (a member of Planet4 consortium) we always try to incorporate the new tools of emerging technologies to improve traditional control systems, adding value to the final solution. An example of this is this pilot project carried out in collaboration with the Generalitat de Catalunya (Spain) for the analysis of data in sensorized roundabouts.” – says Juan Alfonso Merino Beltrán, Automation Technical Manager at Elecnor.

The objective of the project was to know and analyze the wear of the road, to be able to carry out adequate maintenance and improve road safety.

What technology have we used for it?

• Serverless Architecture based on #AmazonWebServices, through a #GSM connection with the cloud, with Libelium equipment and #MQTT protocol. That is, without the need to manage physical servers, with flexible scaling and high availability.

• Business analysis solution based on the Microsoft cloud and its #business intelligence tools for data visualization, KPIs and alarms. This tool is a predictive system with the ability to translate data into graphs, panels or reports that allows the user greater understanding to speed up decision making.
