INDUSTRIAL COMPANIES ARE PLANNING TO INCREASE THEIR EXPENDITURE ON ROBOTICS AND AUTOMATION

A new survey by McKinsey & Company suggests that robotics and automation systems will account for 25% of capital spending by industrial companies over the next five years.

The logistics sector is expected to be the first adopter of commercial-scale Industry 4.0, investing around 32% of all their capital spending in Industry 4.0 solutions to automate manual processes and bring intelligence to fulfillment operations.

Automotive and Life Sciences/Pharmaceuticals sectors are also expected to invest around 30%. However, enterprises are concerned with:

  • The costs of hardware;
  • Lack of expertise;
  • Potential job losses;
  • Safety and security.
